Boca Residence Provides Striking Backdrop
Talk about just sitting there and getting discovered. The Solokow family home in west Boca Raton has appeared in numerous television and print commercials, fashion shoots and television productions. Audi, BMW, Telemundo and Belk and a patio furniture company have all featured the home for its background scenery.
And for good reason. With striking contemporary lines nestled on five acres of natural beauty residence in west Boca Raton, a location scout discovered the house several years ago and asked its owners to allow the property to be used for photo shoots.
“I didn’t look for it,”
said Sharon Solokow.
“It just happened. The producers love it for the beautiful property and the large rooms with high ceilings.”
Inside, the 11,624-square-foot house boasts touches of nature and sustainable materials including bamboo and slate flooring, natural stone in the bathrooms, and tinted glass windows to reduce heat. Seattle architect and interior designer Daniel Williams, a specialist in sustainable design, incorporated sun studies and rain water management, a wind wall, a skylight, and a roof deck.
The house also has an elevator to its second floor, a theater, an outdoor barbecue, and a pool and patio area. Outside, the family enjoys sunsets in their backyard over the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Cypress tress, palm trees, bamboo trees and a pond dot the property, and wildlife occasionally stop by for a visit. The Loxahatchee refuge supports wintering and migration areas for many species of birds, and the family has spotted deer and an occasional alligator.
“We built the house and it was completed in 2009,” Solokow said. “Some special features are that it is a modern house in a rural horse country setting located in Boca Raton (which is unusual).”
Zillow estimates the property value at $2.1 million.
