Caring for Kids While Growing Your Career

THE ULTIMATE DREAM IS TO HAVE IT ALL. WE ENVISION A FULL LIFE WITH A THRIVING, HIGH-POWERED CAREER AND FAMILY OF OUR OWN.

Yet when the time actually comes, we begin to realize that life is a lot less rainbows and butterflies and a lot more raw reality. The truth is that yes, we can have it all. However, we can’t have all things, at all times, during all days. It is about finding that inner balance and making it work for the different facets that make up who you are.

Whether in your personal or professional life, you can’t pour out from an empty cup. Unless you are operating as the best version of yourself, you cannot provide the leadership and care needed to manage the various aspects of your life. When you feel your tank is nearing zero, take time out for self-care. Giving yourself a little TLC to replenish your mind, body, and soul isn’t selfish; it is a necessity.

Often, we get so caught up in the day-today minutia and stress that we forget to enjoy the process of life. We don’t take the time to appreciate the little moments or celebrate the small wins. But even though the beauty is in the butterfly, the success is in the cocoon. And though we aim to reach our goals and dreams, it is the journey of getting there that makes all the difference.

Things won’t always go as planned, so give yourself grace when they don’t. When trying to balance so many plates in the air, from time to time, one may fall. And that is okay. Because whether it comes to your career or being the best parent possible, it is not about counting each misstep when things go wrong; it is all about always getting back up.

As we near Mother’s Day, deep gratitude must be expressed for the hardest yet most fulfilling job in the world. It is a true art form to balance a career and motherhood. And while it may not always be easy, it is possible and always worth it. And just know that everyone already believes in you, but the true magic happens when you believe in yourself.
