Experiential Learning at NSU University School

THIS SCHOOL PROVIDES EACH STUDENT WITH A PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO EDUCATION, ACCESS TO COLLEGE-LEVEL RESOURCES, HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, AND TOP PROGRAMS.

Experiential learning at NSU University School offers students exposure to a world of hands-on opportunities that enrich academic life and help them grow into confident leaders, critical thinkers, and expert problem solvers. This school year, the unique experiences for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in collaboration with NSU has expanded and includes fellowships, internships, capstone projects, and more!

The Fellowship Programs in the fields of medicine, writing and communications, and law, enable students to interact with NSU experts and explore their passions in depth. The Emerging Technologies Internship gives students the opportunity to shadow professionals and learn 3D printing and virtual reality applications in medicine. This school year, NSU University School students attended the NSU Recruit a Shark Day alongside college students to secure internships, jobs, and community service opportunities from hundreds of organizations.

Starting in Junior Kindergarten and continuing through the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, grade level curriculum is enhanced with the infusion of experiential learning. For example, kindergartners recently connected with a school in Seattle to showcase their artwork and read together, while first-graders embarked on a journey to discover their community by touring the NSU radio station, library, and dining facilities.
