You Look Great! Did You Do Something Different?

The field of facial aesthetics has come a long way in the last few years. Procedures such as Botox® and fillers used to be considered “taboo” but are now more popular than ever. That being said, it’s not uncommon for a patient to say they don’t want to look fake or they don’t want anyone to notice.

The best work shouldn’t be obvious. We don’t lose bone and get wrinkles overnight, so expecting to improve these issues overnight isn’t realistic. Our injectors are careful to provide treatments in the most conservative ways for the most natural results. With hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane® and Juvederm®, there is always a chance for a little swelling and bruising. Once the filler is placed, it takes about 2 weeks for the final result to be seen. At the 2-week follow up, we evaluate these results and can continue to build on them if needed.

The initial consultation is key. This is where we carefully evaluate the patient’s face, listen carefully to their concerns, and make our full recommendations. For some patients, that may mean one or two syringes of filler and for others, it could mean four, five, or more syringes. The latter patients’ eyes typically triple in size when we start talking about multiple syringes. They’ll usually repeat, “Wait, but I don’t want to look fake!” To give some perspective, every syringe of hyaluronic acid filler contains no more than 1mL and it takes 5mL (or 5 syringes) to make one teaspoon (not tablespoon). Go ahead, go to the kitchen and grab a teaspoon so you can see just how little product that really is. Not much!

The most important aspect of this entire process is the injector. Facial aesthetics is an art and it takes a good eye to be able to restore a patient’s natural beauty with fillers and Botox®. Our office, The Beauty Clinic, in Aventura, has been assigned the Presidental Associates Recognition by Galderma (the makers of Resytlane® fillers and Dysport®); meaning we are in the top 10% of all injectors in the United States.
