Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate
By: Kelly Baker
As Floridians, Orlando is a frequent destination. Many times we end up at the same familiar places. If you haven’t stayed at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, it’s time for a change. Arriving at this property feels like you have been transported far from the hustle and bustle of Orlando, yet you are only minutes away.
As you enter ChampionsGate, you are met with palm tree lined streets welcoming you to the AAA Four Diamond property that features luxurious rooms, suites and villas. This full service hotel offers a variety of amenities such as, the Mokara® Spa, a fitness center, several dining options, gift shops, a fire pit, two championship golf courses, a business center, meeting and banquet facilities, three pools, tennis, volleyball, basketball, a children’s camp, a full sports field facility and more. With this variety, you won’t want to leave the property, and a great place to start is the spa.
The Mokara Spa offers a variety of traditional spa treatments from massages and facials to manicures and pedicures. To experience pure indulgence, try the 80-minute Himalayan Hot Stone Massage. All of your cares melt away as the warmed salt stones are gently and expertly massaged over your body. Himalayan Hot Stone Massage is said to offer deep relaxation, reduced inflammation, improved sleep and an improved sense of well being neutralizing the effects of toxins in the body. It is the ultimate in relaxation and the perfect way to start your vacation. Your spa treatment allows you access to the steam hot tub and rain shower areas during your visit.
Restaurant options are plentiful–with something for everyone. For breakfast, Trevi’s starts the morning with a fabulous buffet. Highlights include fresh fruits, pastries, homemade breads with a variety of jams, honeys and butters, a made-to-order omelet station with several homemade salsas and an array of traditional breakfast favorites. Enjoy dining indoors or out on the patio in the Italian herb garden. For lunch and dinner, Trevi’s transforms into an Italian restaurant with fresh brick oven baked bread, pastas and your favorite Italian specialties. If sushi and pan-Asian dishes inspire your taste buds, you’ll like Zen. For the carnivore… David’s Club is for you.
Appointed in dark-toned woods and rich furnishings, David’s Club doubles as a sophisticated sports bar and steakhouse divided into four distinct areas. Enjoy food and drinks while watching your favorite game on the 90” flat screen television in comfortable oversized leather chairs or dinner in the main dining area with beautiful views of the pools and gardens. While David’s offers a varied menu of sandwiches, burgers and fish, they also serve the finest aged Angus steaks. The bone-in rib eye is melt-in-your mouth tender, lightly dusted with sea salt, and accompanied by traditional sides to create the perfect steakhouse experience. Top off your evening with a nightcap at the bar or challenge a friend to a game of pool, foosball or darts. It’s all located in David’s.
To satisfy your need for caffeine, Morsel’s offers Peet’s Coffee and Tea® along with baked goods and snacks. If you are in a hurry, Broadway Deli offers a variety of on-the-go meals, gelato, candies, and “most importantly”… kits to hand craft your own S’mores at the fire pit at sundown.
If you’re traveling with children, Croc’s is a stroke of genius for families with little ones refusing to get out of the pool long enough to eat. Croc’s serves salads, sandwiches, appetizers and cocktails poolside in a sports bar setting. No need to dry off and get dressed for lunch. Dine in your swim gear while the kids are an arms length away enjoying the pool.
Speaking of pools … there are three. There is a formal adult pool and hot tub with cushy chaise lounges and umbrellas; or if you prefer a more intimate setting, private cabanas are available. This is a quiet, relaxed area perfect for reading or just relaxing in the fresh air and sunshine. Nearby is the lazy river where adults and children can spend an afternoon floating along while the sun peeks thru the heavy tree-lined canopy, and fountains spray periodically to cool you. Last but certainly not least, the family pool, complete with a waterslide and beach-style entrances is conveniently located next to the sports courts, the kids camp and Croc’s. The resort offers special activities throughout the day and movies poolside on Saturday evenings.
Be sure to check the daily activities. You may end up in a Sushi rolling or donut making demonstration, field games, impromptu afternoon snacks and refreshments, or a wide variety of other options. There is always something happening. In addition to the many activities, the staff at this property is simply amazing. Every person you come in contact with greets you with a smile and makes every possible effort to ensure you are completely satisfied with every detail of your stay.
ChampionsGate is a golfer’s paradise. With 36 holes of Greg Norman designed championship golf courses and the World Headquarters of the David Leadbetter Golf Academy this is an ideal location for golf enthusiasts and their families.
While there is plenty of entertainment at the hotel and certainly no need to leave, you are only eight miles from Walt Disney World; so if you opt for a day away from the property, the hotel has scheduled shuttle service to and from the Walt Disney World Theme Parks®.
So, next time your plans are taking you to Central Florida, stay at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. This property offers something special for every type of traveler from conference attendees to golfers, girlfriend getaways, to couples, and families or family reunions. There is even a pet friendly floor so nobody gets left behind.
