World Famous Billy’s Stone Crab is known as one of the best seafood restaurants in South Florida. Billy’s waterfront landscapes features an elegant two-story fine dining room with floor to ceiling captivating views of the Intracoastal Water Way. As the magnificent sun dropped into the horizon, we relaxed and eagerly anticipated our culinary adventure as we slathered house made Key Lime honey butter on steamy rolls.  Know as an “ALL YOU CAN EAT” crab restaurant, you can dive into medium, large, jumbo and colossal stone crabs as well as Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Leg Clusters from Bristol Bay, Alaska.

With a very extensive menu offering a wide variety of fresh Florida Seafood, our tuxedo-clad server enticed us with succulent mushrooms, stuffed with crabmeat, flavorful fish tacos with mango salsa, as well as mussels, available in garlic oil or marinara with plenty of bread for soaking up the luscious juices. A wonderful hot seafood platter included a selection of favorites, such as clams casino, clams oreganata, oysters Rockefeller, escargot and a few more stuffed mushrooms. Florida Keys smoked fish spread is always popular along with Key West Pink Shrimp cocktail, jumbo lump crabmeat cocktail, along with clams and oysters on the half shell. For a special treat, don’t miss the chef’s selection of ceviche and the yummy sesame seared tuna.img_8738Billy’s main focus is their famous fresh stone crabs, rated best in Florida by the New York Times and their Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Leg Clusters. So, of course, we devoured a combination of steamed Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Leg Clusters in drawn butter and chilled stone crabs with Billy’s Signature Mustard Sauce. Billy’s truly lived up to their reputation, as these were some of the sweetest morsels of crustaceans we’ve ever eaten. Owner, Billy Hershey states, “People come here and say Wow! Your crabs are better than anywhere else. We will never say our crabs are better. We will thank them for the greatest compliment that we can ever have.”

If crabs are not your preference, the delicious selection of fresh fish is delivered daily from Billy’s Fish House, located on Summerland Key in the Florida Keys.  The fish is prepared various ways, including a traditional Oscar, which is lightly sautéed and topped with jumbo lump crabmeat, asparagus and Hollandaise sauce.  The Key West is lightly sautéed in butter, white wine and topped with jumbo shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat and garnished with sliced avocado, while the macadamia encrusted is coated with a mixture of coarsely chopped macadamia nuts, asiago cheese, and breadcrumbs, broiled and served over zucchini, yellow squash, red and green peppers sautéed in sesame oil with sesame seeds. The Caribbean, pan seared or grilled is topped with sautéed fresh diced pineapple, papaya, mango, red bell pepper and cilantro on a bed of baby spinach dressed with extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon and finished with a sprinkle of roasted sliced almonds It was a party in our mouths. Fresh yellowtail snapper, black grouper, mahi-mahi or fish of the day are available either broiled, sautéed or fried.

Fabulous pasta dishes showcase the classics, such as a Seafood Marinara of select seafood including ½ Florida lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, clams, fish and sea scallops, sautéed with white wine, garlic and parsley in a marinara sauce over linguine. Don’t miss the linguine with clam sauce served either sautéed in marinara sauce with garlic and parsley or in a white sauce of extra virgin olive oil, wine, butter, garlic and parsley.pineapple-mango-grouperIf you’re a shrimp lover, your selection is endless from jumbo coconut shrimp dipped in beer batter and rolled in coconut to scrumptious shrimp scampi sautéed in a lemon, parsley and garlic butter served over a bed of rice.  The shrimp creole is blended with tomatoes, garlic, onion, and celery and served over a bed of rice or linguine while the garlic shrimp is sautéed in lemon garlic butter over a bed of linguine. Billy’s serves Key West Pink Shrimp, harvested in the turquoise waters of Key West and Dry Tortugas. Simply amazing!

Fragrant bouillabaisse, a Mediterranean style seafood stew, served with fish, jumbo shrimp, 1/2 Florida lobster tail, oysters, clams and sea scallops is poached in a saffron scented tomato stew. The boundless menu choices continue with USDA premium choice tender New York strip and filet mignon, cooked to perfection. Free-range chicken is served francaise, teriyaki or fried, and is moist and juicy.

Phenomenal sides, large enough to share, offer outstanding lyonnaise potatoes, sweet potato fries, cottage fries and parsley potatoes along with asparagus and broccoli with hollandaise, creamed and sautéed spinach, grilled tomatoes and rice pilaf.

Our sweet ending with a cappuccino was just perfect with a slice of tart luscious Billy’s Homemade Key Lime Pie, creamy cheesecake with strawberries, decadent chocolate cake and warm apple tart. Before you leave, make sure to visit their wonderful seafood market. Sitting on crushed ice in the glass seafood display case, you will find: wild, Key West Pink Shrimp, stone crab claws, yellowtail snapper, Apalachicola prime oysters, Indian River clams, and Florida black grouper, all caught along the Florida coasts. Billy’s receives daily their fresh stone crabs, Florida Lobster, (when in season) Key West Pink Shrimp, and an assortment of Florida fish, all coming directly from their fleet of over 18 boats, with fisherman bringing their catch to the Fish House on Summerland Key, Florida Keys, and from the Upper West Coast of Florida.

At night, when the draw bridge of Hollywood Boulevard is illuminated and the lights change colors, the view is quite spectacular, making the restaurant a preferred city spot for lunch or dinner.

With outstanding attentive service, you will thoroughly enjoy your gourmet adventure while watching the beautiful panoramic nature over the Hollywood Beach Marina.
