GIN-CENTRIC
If you’re looking for excellent traditional American cuisine, check out Botánico Gin & Cookhouse, located in Coconut Grove’s CocoWalk. This new bar and restaurant offers 15 different gin-and-tonic variations to choose from. If you’re not into gin-and-tonic, they also have handcrafted house cocktails, draft and bottle beers, and red and white wines from around the world. The upscale restaurant offers an approachable dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating. Once my guest and I arrived, the friendly hostess took us to our table. I ordered a Hendrick’s from their cocktail menu, which is handcrafted with elderflower tonic, cucumber jelly, and a lime twist while my guest ordered Roku made with an aromatic tonic, mint, and lemongrass.

TRADITIONALLY TASTY
For starters, we ordered the Cheese Board, which comes plated with an assortment of artisan cheeses, fig spread, and olives served with crostini. The cheeses are delicious, with a variety of textures and tastes, which complemented the sweetness of the fig spread and the saltiness from the olives. Once we were ready for our main course, we ordered the Grilled Branzino. This entrée was carefully plated with a Branzino filet, Greek fish sauce, and served with fresh grilled vegetables. The Branzino was light and flaky with a mildly sweet flavor. The accompaniment of the grilled vegetables brought all of the flavors together. A must-order dish! They also have other items on their menu such as an eight-ounce Center-Cut Filet, Jumbo Sea Scallops, Pan-Roasted Chicken, and other delectable dishes!

SPOONFUL OF FLAVOR
Don’t forget to scope out their Desserts menu. They have seven tasty desserts to choose from. From Hazelnut Beignets, seasonal flavor Sorbet, Gelato, Mixed Berry Pavlova, two different types of Key Lime Pies, and Churros con Chocolate. I opted for the Botánico Key Lime Pie since the key lime pie is made the traditional way, but it is infused with gin and topped with whipped cream. The Botánico Key Lime Pie is made with a golden graham cracker crust and the filling is smooth, tangy, sweet, creamy and a refreshing vibe!
