La Mar by The Bay

An Opulent Treat

With sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, you can relax and enjoy the spectacular Sunday brunch at La Mar by Gaston Acurio in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Available every Sunday from 11:30am to 3:30pm, a sumptuous Peruvian-inspired brunch menu prepared by Executive Chef Diego Oka is perfectly paired with the restaurant’s waterfront seating.La Mar dining room

As the sun was sparkling on the bay, we began our culinary journey with some thirst quenching cocktails of a Lychee Mimosa, Pisco Sour and unlimited Piper-Heidsieck champagne. We continued with an opulent spread of Peruvian specialties including an elaborate Cebiche station featuring fresh and delicious Clásico with fluke, cilantro, aji limo, red onions, and choclo or the Nikei with tuna, red onions, nori, avocado, daikon, cucumber. Peruvian-style sushi rolls are made fresh right before our eyes. Next, we moved on to the yummy Causa dishes, mashed potato dumplings topped with seafood, offering Cangrejo (beet causa with crab) and Escabeche (potato with crispy snapper). The Peruvian experience continues with an irresistible whole fried fish, and empanadas along with the Anticucho grill including Free Range Chicken, Shrimp and sweet corn.

As if the buffet isn’t enough, as crazy as that sounds, delicious Chaufa Aeropuerto, La Mar’s signature Chinese fried Rice with pork and shrimp omelet drizzled with sweet chili Nikei sauce is prepared and served tableside. A selection of one entrée per person rom a special à la carte menu that includes the amazing Grouper Chorillana, with grouper, tamarind chorrillana sauce and mashed yuca with smoked bacon and tender Lomo Saltado and Fried Egg, a traditional beef dish with stir fried potatoes, red onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, cilantro. For an upcharge, we ordered premium entrées of grilled Churrasco a lo Pobre with ribeye angus beef, chimichurri, beans and rice tacu-tacu, egg, and fried banana; or delicately sweet King Crab Plancha Anticuchera with crushed potatoes, ají panca pepper sauce, chimichurri and choclo corn.La Mar by Gaston Acurio brunch

Our sweet ending included a beautiful centerpiece of a decadent tower of sumptuous signature dessert creations of alfajores, seasonal macaroons, tarts, Peruvian chocolate mousse, pie de limon, homemade candies, truffles and more. Simply decadent!

For Mother’s Day or any day of the year, La Mar is the perfect setting with a delectable brunch and breathtaking views. Bon Appétit…
