This progressive eatery is a dream come true for owners, (brother and sister) Aaron and Kirsta Grauberger. “We are proud to be serving delicious dishes that are literally from the farm to the table. We call this ‘wine country cuisine’ because the emphasis is on fresh food from top purveyors along with an abundant wine list. Our restaurant truly reflects our love for food and wine,” notes Kirsta. They focus on excellence and believe in serving delicious creative food with an emphasis on amazing flavor, freshness and prime sourcing.Market 17 is proud to be serving food made only from the freshest ingredients available. They continue sourcing high-quality produce, meat, poultry, fish, and seafood, locally and nationwide. All ingredients are free of chemicals, hormones, and pesticides. There will be fish from local fisherman, organic, free-range chicken, grass-fed and corn-fed beef, and organically grown fruits and vegetables. All dishes are prepared from scratch daily, utilizing traditional French techniques, where each ingredient is fully utilized.
The casually elegant interior welcomed us with intimate lighting and earth tones along with ultra-suede columns and colorful modern artwork. For a select few, Market 17 offers a special “Dining in the Dark” adventure nightly at their Chef’s Table in the private dining room. Diners will experience a feast unable to be seen, only tasted with a creative menu. With this option, you will get to experience taste and texture for a truly sensory, culinary experience.
With the menu changing daily, depending on availability of ingredients, a permanent highlight is the fresh ceviche blending Florida Shrimp, Cobia, Wahoo, Castelvetrano Olives, Cucumber, Mint, Pickled Red Onion, Fennel, Habanero Oil and Lime Marinade, served with Crispy Yucca Chips. The House made Charcuterie platter, served with chutneys and pickling’s is your own creation from choices of meats and cheeses. Tender Braised Grassfed Beef Cheek with House made Cavatelli Pasta, Ricotta, Zucchini Ribbons, Leeks, Preserved Lemon and Brown Butter melted in our mouths while the Grilled House made Flatbread layered with Cauliflower Fennel Bagna Cauda, Crispy Broccoli, Shaved Cauliflower and Pickled Red Onion burst with flavor. Delicious Heirloom Tomatoes and Local Stracciatella Cheese with Lemon Oil, Sunflower Seed Honey Crisp, Cracked Pepper, and Basil is drizzled with Arugula Vinaigrette and the Local Farm Green Salad with Rainbow Carrots, Radish, Cucumber, Celery, Shallots, and Croutons tossed in Orange Vinaigrette is light and refreshing.
Entrees, petite or full portions, offer mouth watering delights such as, Pan Seared Florida Fluke with Squid Ink Basmati Rice, Grilled Mushrooms, Herb Tips, Fennel Escabeche and Piquillo Pepper Coulis or the wonderful Grilled Red Curry Florida Cobia with Ginger Bulgur, Candied Orange Zest, Caramelized Onions, Carrots, Pistachio, Broccoli and Nuoc Cham while the Spicy Key West Shrimp with Herbed Farro, Baby Spinach, Pickled Onions, Grapefruit, Candied Hazelnuts and Eggplant Pudding is sensational.
Grilled Grassfed Beef Tenderloin with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Green Beans, Zucchini and Kale with a Red Wine Demi is cooked to perfection. The tender Roasted Pasture Farmed Chicken Breast, served with Aged Cheddar Fregola & Red Beets, Fresh Peaches, Radish, Green Beans, Pistachio Aillade was superb.In addition to the superior food and service, Market 17 is very serious about wine and spirits. Both owners are Sommeliers and are very excited to share their passion for wine, as there is a diverse and eclectic international list with over 350 labels and always expanding.
For a sweet ending, enjoy the creamy Chamomille Crème with Citrus Salsa or the lusciously moist Lemon Zest and Olive Oil Cake with Macerated Blueberries, Soy Milk Sorbet, and Blueberry Coulis. Don’t miss the House Maid cookies and Milk offering decadent Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and Organic Whole Milk for dunking. The Spiced Dark Chocolate Stout Truffle with Cocoa Pearls, Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Genache is a chocolate lovers dream.
