Check out one of the hottest and trendiest restaurants located in the South of Fifth neighborhood called Papi Steak, owned by Groot Hospitality. In Spanish, papi means daddy, and it also happens to be David “Papi” Einhorn’s bold nickname. The décor in this modern steakhouse reminds me of the 80’s with large flower print wallpaper and red velvet seating throughout. It really pops! Once my guest and I were taken to our booth, we quickly glanced at their cocktail menu to to lift our spirits! We decided to order a couple of Frank Sinatra cocktails. They are made with blueberry infused Jack Daniels, lemon, and velvet falernum. It’s a strong yet fruity sipping drink!
Next up, we ordered the Crab Dip from the Hot Starters section which comes plated with miso, scallions, and shrimp crackers. The Crab Dip was nested in an iron cast dip bowl. It was warm, buttery, and accompanied by the delicious crunch from the shrimp cracker. Once it was all gone, we were ready to order our dinner from the main menu. We selected what they are most known for… their 32 oz. Papi Steak, a Glatt Kosher Ribeye that is made with Papi’s secret sauce. This one dish was big enough for us to share. From the Sides section of the menu, we ordered the corn bread. The Papi Steak was brought to our table on a round charcuterie cutting board and we were ready to dig in! The corn bread had a nice kick to it with the added jalapeños and was made with tasty popcorn butter, which complemented the thick, juicy, perfectly cooked steak! It’s a must-have!
After the superb meal, we were ready to finish up with dessert. My stomach hardly had room, but I just couldn’t resist. The first dessert that caught my eye was the Roasted Pineapple, prepared with bourbon toffee and a scoop of creamy yet spicy cinnamon ice cream. The cinnamon ice cream really enhanced the flavor of the bourbon toffee and the tanginess from the pineapple. It was tropical bliss! This restaurant is definitely one not to miss!
