Pear and Ginger Pisco Sour

As the leaves turn color and the air gets cooler, try this cocktail that is of Peruvian origin. Pisco is a type of brandy that is typically clear-ish in color that features a fresh bouquet of aromatics with a touch of sweetness on the palate, while the ginger honey syrup and lime juice add a balance of crisp tart, yet spicy taste. Take a sip to welcome the fall season.

• 2 oz. Pisco
• ¾ oz. lime juice
• ½ oz. ginger honey syrup*
• ½ a Bosc pear, seeded, and chopped
• Crystallized/candied ginger (for garnish)

• 1 cup honey
• 1 (6-inch) piece ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

Combine honey, ginger, and 1 cup water in a 2-qt. saucepan, heat until boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool.

METHOD: First muddle the pear in a shaker with lime juice. Next, add remaining ingredients and ice, shake until chilled. Then, strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Finally, garnish with a pear slice, lime rosette, and candied ginger. Cheers!
