Luxurious Feminine Touch
Swan, located in the heart of the Miami Design District, is a two-story, 13,500 sq. ft., 250-seat sophisticated restaurant that features pastel pinks and grays on the first floor and a sultry vibe with velvet seating and dark wooden floors on the second floor, known as Bar Bevy. Swan and Bar Bevy were created by a first partnership that was made between Miami hospitality mogul David Grutman, singer/producer Pharrell Williams, and French chef and winner of Europe’s Top Chef season three, Jean Imbert. Swan features a menu centered around seasonal and market-driven ingredients for refined rustic cuisines. As my guest and I walked up to the hostess, I was in awe of all the soft feminine touches throughout the restaurant with jewel-like finishes and artwork by fashion illustrator David Downton.

Snapper Acqua Pazza

Top Notch Cuisine
Once we arrived at our table, we were ready to order their hand-crafted cocktails. We started off with the Purple Reign, made with Avion Silver, shōchū, butterfly pea, lavender, yuzu, and domain de canton. My first sip delighted me with the fresh lavender aroma and the smoothness of the tequila, along with all other complementary flavors like the tartness of the yuzu. As an appetizer, we had to try their Hamachi Crudo—where has this been all of my life? Hamachi Crudo is thinly-sliced raw, fresh yellowtail fish accompanied with coconut, lime, pickled fresno, and pepitas. Its fresh and citrusy flavors will melt in your mouth. If you are into sashimi, then this is a must-have! For our main course, I opted for the Butternut Squash Ravioli. These medium-sized pasta envelopes were cooked al dente and filled with puréed butternut squash, brown butter, hazelnut, and sage. The combination of these flavors works well together. The sage balanced the butternut squash while the hazelnut gave it a subtle nutty flavor at the end. My guest ordered the Snapper Acqua Pazza that came with rock shrimp, chickpea, zucchini, saffron, and fennel. Not only was the dish colorful, but the fish was tender, flaky, and full of flavor!

Swan-sational Birthday Cookie
For dessert, it was difficult to narrow it down to just one, but although it was not my birthday, I selected The Birthday Party. It’s a miso chocolate chip cookie that comes warm, soft, and gooey on a skillet with small ramekins each containing a topping of salted caramel sauce, mini-M&M’s, peanut butter cups, colorful sprinkles, candied pretzels, candied peanuts, and a scoop of vanilla and caramel ice cream. This dessert is large enough to share, with guests having the option to choose their own toppings. If you order this dessert on your birthday, they will turn it into a huge celebration with sparklers and all!
