Dive Into the Cove

SOUTH FLORIDA HAS JUST BEEN AWARDED A NEW, MUCH-NEEDED WATERPARK. THE JW MARRIOTT MIAMI TURNBERRY RESORT & SPA JUST UNVEILED THE GORGEOUS TIDAL COVE IN JUNE, AND IT’S ALREADY THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SUMMER.

Tidal Cove, the world-class family-friendly water park, is finally here with a lazy river, seven water slides, two pools, the FlowRider® Triple, and even a Kids’ Cove, which has a pool and an aquatic playscape designed with Emojis. One of the most popular water slides, the Boomerango, uses a tube that can fit up to four people; it features mind-bending twists and turns before sending you down a steep plunge, only to then use that momentum to blast your tube up a near-vertical wall. If that’s not enough to get your heart racing, consider the two Aqua Drop slides, which will have you nervously sweating in anticipation before the trap door releases—shooting you downward for an almost-vertical drop. There’s also more relaxed slide options, like the Whizzard, a single-rider slide where you take off on a mat to race your friends, or the Constrictor, a slide for 1-2 people that takes on tight turns and dips.

The park also boasts the nation’s first-ever FlowRider® Triple, a surf simulation machine that features three bays for triple the fun! If you want to learn how to flowboard, you can book a session with one of their pros! Lessons are offered at $60 for 30 minutes.

Once you’re done getting your adrenaline fix, enjoy some tranquility. Grab a tube and float down the lazy river, or get some sun at the zero-entry lagoon-style swimming pool, Laguna Pool. There’s also a second pool, Oasis, which you can reserve for a more private experience. 25 luxury cabanas are available for rentals as well, complete with flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges.

When hunger strikes, take a trip to one of Tidal Cove’s two eateries. First, there’s Surf House, a market-fresh grill and bar, perfect for scoring that delicious Mahi Mahi sandwich you’ve been craving. You can also order tropical cocktails and ice cold beers here. The second restaurant, Freestyle, is a quick serve restaurant and snack bar that is ideal for grabbing a slice to go, or cooling down with some of their house-made gelato.

Whether you’re plunging down the Aqua Drop, surfing on the FlowRider® Triple, or unwinding in the lazy river, a day at Tidal Cove is a day well-spent. So, treat yourself, and catch a wave on over!
