AS THE WORLD AWAITS ART BASEL, THE FORT LAUDERDALE SCENE GETS ITS OWN PLACE ON THE MAP.
This month the award-winning non-profit ArtServe, and W Fort Lauderdale are taking creative expression, cool vibes and tunage to a heightened sensorial level. ArtServe was one of the original six incubators in the country to transform “starving artists” (there was never anything romantic about that) into entrepreneurs who skillfully market and sell their work. The W, of course, has a world renowned design aesthetic, making it ArtServe’s ideal partner in building the city’s cultural economy.
On Wednesday evenings for the past two years, ArtServe and the W have hosted an eclectic group of revelers gathered around a local artist and a blank canvas in the hotel’s Living Room. That’s how Avi Ram’s Prince inspired cosmo painting and other wonders came to be, including an acrylic painting by world peace muralist Renda Writer: Love Is A Risk, Do It Anyway.
In any case, art you’ll fall in love with and want to take home will be available at the upcoming event. November 1st through 23rd at ArtServe, will host the PRISM exhibit, so named to convey multicultural and multi textural togetherness. At 48×60 inches, each of the 45 paintings is going for a peaceful price of $400 from November 1st through the opening reception on November 15th (6-8 pm). After the reception, the price will increase to $500.
Join the creatively curious November 9th (7-11 pm) back at the Living Room, where multiple artists will live-paint and D.J.s, duel. With fashion and film a part of it as well, ArtServe CEO Jaye Abbate promises, “It’s going to be an art happening, a surprise at every turn.”
