Anthony Marshon Davis Jr. was born on March 11, 1993, in Chicago. He attended Perspectives Charter School – a school known more for its math and science aptitude than its athletic success. The school actually had no gym and the basketball team practiced at a nearby church. As his high school career came to an end, Davis had a decision to make. His final choices for college were Ohio State, Syracuse, and Kentucky. In the end, he decided to go with the Kentucky Wildcats, coached by a top coach in John Calipari. Davis was immediately mentioned as a possible #1 overall draft pick in the 2012 NBA draft. There is a difference between having expectations placed on you and actually following through on those expectations. Davis did both and averaged 15.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 4.6 blocks per game as he led the Wildcats to their 8th NCAA championship.
Davis was the #1 overall pick in the 2012 draft as he was taken by the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans). Despite leading all rookies with 20 double-doubles, Davis finished 2nd in the Rookie of the Year voting to, Damian Lillard. “The Brow” has dominated over his first 6 seasons and has averaged over 28 ppg and 11 rpg in the last 2 years. He is only 25 and his future is bright!
