Edrice Femi Adebayo was born on July 18th, 1997 in Newark, New Jersey. His mother gave him the nickname “Bam Bam” after he flipped over a table at a young age. Bam would go on to attend high school at Northside High School in Pinetown, North Carolina.
At Northside, Adebayo averaged an astounding 32.2 points and 21 rebounds per game. After his junior year, Bam moved on to attend High Point Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina. Adebayo would average 18.9 points per game, 13 rebounds per game to go along with 1.4 blocks and 1.5 assists. That year, Bam was named the 2016 North Carolina Mr. Basketball and would be considered one of the best high school prospects in the country.
Adebayo would go on to attend the University of Kentucky. In his very first year, he helped to lead the Wildcats to an SEC Championship. The jubilation would be shortlived as they lost in the Elite Eight round, but Bam would go on to declare his entry into the 2017 NBA draft. He was drafted with the 14th overall pick by the Miami Heat.
During his rookie season he appeared in 69 games for the Heat as he averaged 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game off the bench. In his second season in the NBA, Bam averaged 8.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, playing in all 82 games. This year, Bam has shown that he is ready to break out as he made the NBA All-Star Game and is leading the Heat in a very surprising season in which they are currently on pace to win 52 games
