Patrick Mahomes: It’s Showtime

Patrick Mahomes was born on, September 17th, 1995 in Tyler, Texas. He was born to Randi Mahomes and Pat Mahomes, who played Major League Baseball for several teams including the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. Patrick played college football as a quarterback as well as a relief pitcher for Texas Tech.

Right before the 2016 season, Mahomes decided that he was going to leave the baseball team to focus on his football career. He went on to shatter NCAA records including one for single-game total offense, with an astounding 819 yards which included 734 yards passing. He finished the season by leading the country in yards per game (421), passing yards (5,052), total offense (5,312), and total touchdowns (53). That year, he  received the award that goes to the nation’s top college passer.

Mahomes left Texas Tech to enter the NFL draft in 2017 and was chosen 10th overall by the Chiefs after throwing 60 mph darts at the combine. Shortly after the draft, Mahomes signed a guaranteed 4-year contract worth $16.42 million.

Mahomes started his first NFL game in week 17 of the 2017 season against the Broncos and led the Chiefs to a 27-24 win. He became the starting Quarterback to begin the 2018 season and to say he has thrived would be an understatement! He has broken TD records through 10 games and 22 games. He became the youngest player to ever throw 6 TDs in a game and the scary part is, he is just getting started!
