Adam Levine was born on March 18, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, USA. His mother Patsy Levine, was an admissions counselor and his father, Fred Levine, owns as retail chain named ‘M. Fredric’. It was never easy for Adam Levine when he found out about his parent’s divorced, this news sent him into hysteria when he was only seven years old. Therapy really helped him understand the circumstances and how calmly cope with the situation and trauma it had caused him. Levine also has a brother named Michael Levine and two half-siblings; Sam and Liza Levine, and a step sister named Julia Bartolf Milne.
Levine then began playing music in high school (Brentwood School), where he met his friends Jessie Carmichael, Ryan Dusick, and Mickey Madden who later joined his band. Levine was one of those kids that didn’t focus on school spirit or education, he believed education wasn’t as important as his music. So, in 1994, Adam Levine and his schoolmates formed a band named Kara’s Flowers and performed for the first time in West Hollywood at night club called Whisky a Go Go.
Then, in 1997 Tommy Allen, an independent producer discovered Kara’s Flowers when they played at a Malibu Beach Party; joined Reprise Records, recorded their first 11 track album and released their first album The Fourth World. In that same year, the band played on one of the episodes in Beverly Hills, 90210.
Eventually, Levine did graduate high school and went onto college in Long Island, New York. But he dropped out his first semester. New York was so life changing for Levine when he was exposed to a whole new music scene and absorbed influencing sounds from hip-hop, soul, gospel, R&B to a deeper grunge-inspired delivery. This inspired him to start singing in falsetto and alternating his expressive tones.
Levine said, he learned more about music and elements on the streets of New York than he would ever have learned in school. Levine’s New York experience drove him back to California where he asked his old band mates to start a band for the second time. When he did, he was inspired enough to add and share a new groove and twist to their band’s original rock templet.
The new rock music elemental mix for the band’s song lyrics were inspired by Levine’s failed relationship with Jane Herman which made him write the song “Songs about Jane”. But this was after he hooked up with the rest of the Kara’s Flowers band. His emotions for Jane were unwired and Levine’s heart was out of control, this made the band fall apart while the they were in a studio to recording.
“IF I REALLY LIKED A GIRL AND I FELT THESE ROMANTIC FEELINGS TOWARDS HER, I WOULD LITERALLY WRITE A SONG AND MAKE SURE THEY HEARD IT. I WAS SO BOLD. IT WAS A BRIEF RELATIONSHIP, BUT WE REALLY DID FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER AND WHEN WE BROKE UP, MY HEART WAS BROKEN. I DIDN’T HAVE MONEY OR A JOB. ALL I HAD WAS A GIRL I WAS IN LOVE WITH AND THE DREAM OF BEING A FAMOUS MUSICIAN. I WAS LIKE, “I NEED TO TURN THIS INTO SOMETHING GOOD OR IT’S GOING TO BE A BAD THING.”
Soon after, they added a new member, guitarist James Valentine and moved Carmichael to keyboards. The band then changed its name to Maroon 5 and in 2002 they released the album, “Songs about Jane.” Two years later, Maroon 5’s albums became platinum; “Harder to Breath,” “This Love,” and “She Will Be Loved.” According to People magazine, Adam Levine is the “Sexiest Man Alive” since 2013.
“IN REAL LIFE, I AM EMOTIONALLY CONFUSED, WHICH ENABLES ME TO WRITE SONGS. I’M A PISCES, AND THEY SAY THAT PISCES ARE VERY SENSITIVE. IF MEN WERE JUST HONEST WITH THEMSELVES, THEY WOULD SEE THAT THEY ALL HAVE THAT SIDE.”
In 2011, Levine made a jump to a full-time TV gig and a judge/coach on the reality TV series The Voice, and landed a minor role in the series American Horror Story. Then in 2013, he entered his fourth season back on The Voice, appearing alongside Blake Shelton, and newcomers Shakira and Usher, whom had replaced Christina Aguilar and Cee Lo Green as judges for that season. That same year, he signed a deal with NBC to help develop new series and specials for the network.
Soon after May 2019 hit, Levine said his goodbyes and noting that it was “time to move on” from The Voice, following 16 seasons on the popular singing competition series.
Outside of the singing and appearing on television, Levine has been and avid awareness dedicator for various causes; attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, testicular cancer (he posed nude for Cosmopolitan magazine), and LGBTQI+ rights.
From actively spreading awareness, Levine has also been actively working on his physique by introducing yoga and spinning in his life to actively keep his stamina.
“I WAS SKEPTICAL, TO SAY THE LEAST. I WAS WARY OF THE CLICHÉ’S ASSOCIATED WITH YOGA: SPIRITUALITY USED AS A MARKETING TOOL OR EASTERN PHILOSOPHY SOLD AT STARBUCKS TO DISENCHANTED LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS LOOKING FOR MEANING. WHAT I SOON REALIZED IS THAT YOGA WELCOMES EVERYONE— THAT’S EXTREMELY APPEALING.”
As for Adam Levine’s formed family; the story started out with dating Model Anne Vyalitsyna in 2010, after they were introduced at the Year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue release party. The couple split in may 2012. And a year later, Levine proposed to Victoria Secret model Behati Prinsloo. The couple got married on July 19, 2014, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Two years later, the beautiful couple welcomed their baby girl, Dusty Rose into the world. In 2018, their second daughter, Gio Grace was born.
That’s not the end of it either: Rumor has it that Adam Levine will star alongside with Gordy Ewell in a drama genre movie; The Chess Game, coming out next year February 2022. The movie embarks on a journey of self-discovery, and secrets that forces them to work together to salvage their friendship from the brink of disaster. Adam Levine will also be performing an original song for the upcoming animated feature film Paw Patrol: The Movie, on August 20, 2021. It’s based on the popular preschool kids’ series shown on Nickelodeon. Levine continues be naturally giving and talented!
