Community Cheer

Skip a trip to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, and explore what Weston and its surrounding neighborhoods have to offer! This month summer fun will continue with an outdoor story time event for the whole family, an Independence Day celebration, and a show featuring a “tale as old as time.”

Bring the kiddos for an interactive story time in nature! “The Acorn” by Edward Gibbs will be the book of choice and will be read aloud in the Children’s Garden. Afterwards, participate in children’s yoga with your little one and complete a related craft project! If you can’t make it this time, this event will run again every first Sunday of the month!

PARADE AROUND TOWN

Start off 4th of July by hitting the ground running! Weston’s Annual 4th of July Hometown Celebration 5K Run/Walk will be sponsored by the YMCA of South Florida, the Weston YMCA Family Center and the City of Weston, and will feature a run around the roadways near Weston Regional Park. It will start at 7:00 a.m., and after the 5K is completed, medals will be awarded to all participants! Don’t let the festivities end there…At 10:30 a.m., the Weston 2018 4th of July Hometown Celebration Parade will commence with local businesses, elected leaders, schools, bands, and organizations coming together to sport red, white, and blue!

FAIRY TALE FUN

Talented performers from Inside Out Theatre will bring “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” to the stage for a grand revival that will have you happily singing along. Watch as Belle falls in love with the tormented Beast for an epic love story that is even better on stage than on the screen! The show will take place at the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre at 7:00 p.m., with an additional showing on the 15th at 2:00 p.m.
