I “WOOF” YOU
Calling all pet lovers…Join the 30th Annual VCA Walk for the Animals at the Huizenga Park. Thousands of participants are expected to walk through Downtown Fort Lauderdale along the scenic New River. The Walk for the Animals will take place from 8:00 a.m. ‘till noon, but the 1.25- mile walk/run is optional. The Humane Society of Broward County’s mission is to advocate for and improve the lives of animals by providing community services, education, and adoptions for these furry friends and to give them a forever home. During the walk you can bring your friendly pups to enjoy the live music, have a pancake breakfast courtesy of IHOP, games, Purina Incredible Dog demonstrations, giveaways, free treats for your pooch, and over 40 booths to visit. Clinton Kelly from What Not to Wear is the Honorary Chair and will be in attendance along with Jacey Birch from WPLG Local 10 and Letty B from 93.9 MIA.
EAGLES, BIRDIES, AND BOGEYS
It’s time to bring out those golf clubs for the 53rd Annual Golf Classic hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade in memory of Charles “Bebe” Rebozo. Golfers will enjoy a day on the green to raise funds that will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s positive programs, including after-school, programs, homework assistance, social skills, computer training, dance, arts and crafts, professional mentoring, and athletic and summer programs for the local children that need it most. The event will take place at the stunning Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club. The daylong tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a putting contest and a shotgun start will immediately follow at noon. The day will conclude with a delectable buffet-styled dinner, cocktails, a raffle, and a silent auction.
Get your gears going and dash over to the finish line with Feeding South Florida®, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in SoFlo. They will host their 10th Annual Outrun Hunger 5K at the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. This event will raise funds to help end hunger in South Florida and raise awareness for the issue of food insecurity. All levels are welcome, and you can choose to walk or run the 5K. Participants can join the event as an individual or as a team. Admission will be $30 per person until March 20th, then $35 per person thereafter. Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. The 5K race will commence at 7:30 a.m. After the race, an award ceremony and raffle will take place.
