December to Remember

December brings more than just cool weather… From relaxing yoga sessions to star-studded galas, there’s plenty of events to mark on your calendar this month. And if you can’t wait to dive into the holiday spirit, we’re with ya! There are Polar Express train rides, an enchanted forest to explore, and lights glistening on the water, to name a few. December is a time for good times & good vibes, so set out to experience just that this month!

Dec 3 & Dec 5

The Symphony of the Americas, a Broward County designated major cultural institution, is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this season under the direction of its founding Artistic Director, Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese. SOTA will be hosting holiday-themed concerts featuring the Florida Singing Sons and Girls’ Choir of South Florida. The choirs will be performing alongside the full orchestra on stage at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Hear the spectacular young voices of these two acclaimed choirs singing classical and holiday selections from the Nutcracker, Sleigh Ride, and much more to get you in the holiday spirit!

Dec 4-23

Depart from the Hilton Marina into Winter Wonderland this holiday season as you enjoy a very South Florida approach to Christmas. Water Taxi of Fort Lauderdale is bringing back their annual “Holiday Lights” cruises that are fun for the whole family! You’ll be able to ride down the Intracoastal to gaze at all of the beautiful, sparkling lights. A relaxing way to spend a chilly December night, there will also be on board live entertainment, a full cash bar with holiday cocktails (& holiday drinks for kids), as well as wonderful picture taking opportunities. The cruise through the waters of Fort Lauderdale lasts 90-minutes roundtrip, with tickets at $25 for adults and $15 for kids.

Dress up and raise your glass for a good cause. Five-time Grammy® Award-winning music legend Phil Collins and wife Orianne Collins’ Little Dreams Foundation will host the Dreaming on the Beach Gala at The Fillmore, Miami Beach. The gala is set to help raise funds to fulfill the dreams of young, aspiring talented youths who don’t have the means to achieve their music, sports and art goals. Grammy® Award-winning Italian artist Laura Pausini, Grammy® Award nominee KT Tunstall, Latin Pop singer Nacho, Spanish Soul artist Pitingo, and Miami-based Rock band 5800 will all take the stage to perform at this elegant affair. It will surely be an afternoon to remember!

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning the stage while singing your heart out, you’ll have the chance to do exactly that at Faena Theater. Enjoy temporary fame at their “Rock the Mic” event where guests will be able to sing their favorite songs with a live band providing the tunes behind them. Song lists definitely aren’t limited, with options from Top 40 and Classic Rock, to Latin, Reggae, and more! You can head backstage afterward to check out your performance via a full-length video, shot from four different camera angles. South Florida-based band Higher Ground will be putting their all into making your karaoke experience one of a kind. Get ready to soak up the limelight!

Thru Dec 19

Design, decoration and passion will come together at the Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House. 16 of the nation’s most talented interior design firms will team up to transform a 1920’s Mediterranean Revival villa. Every room will be redecorated to reflect the designers’ tastes and ideas. Located in the El Cid Historic District of West Palm Beach, the house will be open for show through December 19th. Come out and show your support as you get to view the intricately designed and beautifully decorated villa. Proceeds will be shared between Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in NYC and the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County.

Thru Dec 24

The memorable Christmas-themed movie will come to life this season in a truly magical way. The Gold Coast Railroad Museum is hosting 50-minute round-trip Polar Express train rides on a “Journey to the North Pole.” The train will be set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, with hot chocolate and treats offered throughout the night. Children will receive the first gift of Christmas—a silver sleigh bell, to truly allow them to relive the classic movie. Santa and his helpers will also be on board the train to greet passengers and sing along to Christmas carols. Don’t forget to wear your pajamas as you embark on this unique nighttime adventure!

Thru January 7

If you live in South Florida, chances are you’ve heard the theme song played on the radio, TV, and online ads. Santa’s Enchanted Forest has been around for years and it still remains one of the most popular destinations for local residents to head to when the weather gets chilly and the Christmas lights pop up. Santa’s offers over 100 rides, games, attractions and shows as well as South Florida’s tallest Christmas tree light show. Feel like you’re walking into a winter wonderland as you walk through a decked out arch strung with Christmas lights and pass hundreds of themed displays that are fun for people of all ages. Great kiddie rides are available for the youngsters and wild thrill rides are available for adults to scream and shriek all night long.


Buddha Farm offers multiple classes throughout the week, but if you’re looking to decompress on the weekend, Yoga Blast is the class for you. Each class takes place in a 1,000 sq. ft. yoga studio overlooking a serene garden. Saturdays at 11:30 am will find you enjoying a mix of plyometrics and Hatha yoga to strengthen the whole body and “connect your breath to your inner power.” Mats and indoor showers are provided so you can stretch out and cool down after!
