Feb is Full of Fun

Lovers of the arts will be pleased as they plan their outings this month. Check out art festivals in Fort Laudy and MIA, view a captivating ballet performance, and soothe your ears with some jazzy sounds. If you’re looking for something a bit different, there’s also a craft beer festival, and an intriguing map fair!

Feb 2-3

History buffs and antique collectors will both be overjoyed at the 26th Annual Miami International Map Fair, the longest continuously running map fair in the world. Held at the HistoryMiami Museum, the fair will welcome over 30 map dealers from across the globe! Some of the fascinating goodies that will be present include original antique maps, books, town plans, globes, and atlases from the 16th century to present day. One of the most anticipated pieces, a Gutierrez Map of the New World from 1562, will be on display; it’s one of the rarest in the world!

Feb 3

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every first Sunday of the month, jazz it up at Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk for their Sunday Jazz Brunch! On three different stages, local jazz artists will belt out their tunes as guests lounge in chairs and blankets. Local merchants selling goodies will be onsite, and when hunger strikes, a nice stroll down the walkways will offer plenty of food options. Come out to this free, family friendly event; even the pups are allowed, so bring them along too!

Feb 9

At Brew Miami, a craft beer and food pairing festival, you’ll be able to try out over 20 local breweries and their various blends, while pairing them with over 20 local restaurants’ delicious bites! For those who want to sip on something other than brews, wine brands will take over the Wine Garden. Live music and a gaming area will be a part of the night’s festivities, and all tickets allow for unlimited beer, wine, spirits, and food samples, so go crazy!

Feb 14-18

When it comes to Wynwood, there’s no shortage of artsy activities to keep your creativity flowing. At the eight edition of Art Wynwood, Miami’s premier winter art fair, browse works from the contemporary market, mid-career artists, blue chip contemporary, post-war and modern masters. The event is produced by Art Miami, and will be at the site of the CONTEXT Art Miami festival that took place for Art Week in December. If you’re a fan of these two, you’ll definitely fall in love with Art Wynwood!

Feb 23

Every last Saturday of the month, the MASS District in FTL becomes an art wonderland for the Fort Lauderdale Art Walk. Numerous artists set up shop at the market to sell their works, which range from handmade crafts, to clothes, to full scale paintings. Live music from local musicians fill the streets with cheer, and some of SoFlo’s best food trucks show up to dish out yummy treats. It’s one of the best events to head out to when looking to support your local artists, so what are you waiting for?

Feb 24

Ballet is both graceful and mesmerizing, and is always a pleasure to watch, but at the Russian National Ballet Theater’s rendition of Swan Lake, it will be a whole other experience altogether. This esteemed ballet group have been praised by publications all over, and now you can enjoy their performance live as well! The classic Swan Lake is a fairytale story that follows a prince, a princess, and an evil spell that threatens their love. Watch it all come to life on stage through masterful choreography and ear-pleasing music.
