The largest Hispanic festival in the nation, Calle Ocho, will return to the 305 this month for a block party like no other! 20 blocks of Little Havana will have everything you need for a day full of partying and fun with musical stages, international food, sampling sites, folkloric dances and entertainment, and some of the biggest Hispanic performers in the game. FemAle Brew Fest® aims to show that women can brew it too! At this craft beer festival, female beer experts and brewsters in the industry are highlighted. You’ll have opportunities to taste their brews as well as sit down during one of their seminars for a lesson on how the process really works. Female DJ La Trice Perry will provide the tunes as well as a lineup of other solo acts and bands. This year, they are also partnering with Abandoned Pet Rescue, Inc., to help them in their mission to rescue and shelter abused and abandoned pets. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to this non-profit organization.

March 28 & 30

Legendary Mexican painter and icon Frida Kahlo will have her amazing story told on stage in Florida Grand Opera: Frida. Playing at the Parker Playhouse for two nights only, Robert Xavier Rodríguez’s vibrant score follows Frida’s tale perfectly, depicting her dramatic relationship with painter Diego Rivera, and her self-aware portraits. The program will be sung in both English and Spanish, with a pre-show lecture and a talk-back session after the show.
