The Pink Angels of the Memorial Foundation are raising awareness and funds for patients and families at the Memorial Breast Cancer Center. The COVID-19 crisis has been especially difficult for patients and families battling breast cancer. The Pink Angels are remotely being active making a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients by being actively engaged in the design of the planned free-standing Memorial Cancer Institute that will be going up in Pembroke Pines. A Pink Angel, Shamena Khan, has been making masks for patients and staff at Memorial Breast Cancer Center. Funds raised by the Pink Angels will continue to be used to aid patients with transportation needs in order to keep them safe and healthy. They have also allocated funds to help offset costs for diagnostic mammograms and biopsies. The Memorial Cancer Institute will be hosting a “chop challenge,” featuring a competition between Memorial oncologists, who will be using ingredients provided by Memorial dieticians. These ingredients are beneficial to cancer patients because they increase survivability and strengthen prevention. You must preregister to join the Chop Challenge virtually via Zoom on Oct. 15th from 7–8:15 p.m., your donation will help your favorite team win! All registrants will receive a Culinary Care Package and a free raffle ticket. All winners will be announced at the end of the program.
