You know how the rest of the Beatles’ song goes…South Florida is right in the middle of Summer; the sun is beaming, the skies are clear, and the beaches are as crowded as ever. Fill up your agenda with these Jolly July happenings! Dress up for Florida Supercon, and be a fashion critic during Swimweek. July will send lights across your sky!

Lights in the Sky
July 4

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea’s 4th of July celebration will be an exciting event that will undoubtedly end with a bang! Starting at 10 a.m., enjoy a parade that includes BSO vehicles, fire trucks, Lady Liberty, and Uncle Sam. Make sure the kids bring bags to catch all of the candy that will be thrown during the parade! From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., amp up the party with a DJ, face painting, a giant water slide, a clown, ice cream, lemonade and more to keep the kids entertained! Lastly, the night will come to an end with a spectacular firework display at 9 p.m. Come out for a patriotic, pleasant time!

Geek Out!
July 12-15

Florida Supercon is always looked forward to as it offers all kinds of fandoms a couple of days to nerd out over their fictional heroes. Special celebrity and creative guests will be present for fans of comics, superheroes, science fiction, anime, cartoons, video games, and countless others. The cosplay options are limitless with this broad range of characters, so dress up in your very best costume, either handmade or bought! Other activities that will take place over the the four-day experience are an artists’ sketch duel, video game tournaments, costume contests, Fantasy Super Cosplay Wrestling, and more!

A Splash of Style
July 12-17

Dive into the world of high-end fashion and glamour during Miami Swim Week! This is one of the biggest fashion events of the year, providing designers the opportunity to spotlight their fabulous collections. Funkshion, one of Miami Swim Week’s largest show producers, will have a pop-up shop, lounge, and various runway areas. Dezcalso shows will focus on women empowerment in the industry, highlighting female owned businesses and designers. Finally, the Swim Show will be the main event with 7,500 brands and buyers from 60 countries!

ManGO & Be Fruitful!
July 14-15

What is summer without loads of fresh fruit? Stock up on all different kinds at the International Mango and Tropical Fruit Festival! Mangos from Haiti and other tropical rare fruits will be available as you eat your way through the various fruit stands. Fruit trees will be for sale as well as gardening goodies, jewelry, candles, soaps, crafts and more. Cooking demos, mango tasting, beer tasting, live music, seminars on how to grow the fruit trees, kids’ activities, and more will all be a part of the two-day fun fest!

Hip Shakin’ Summer
July 25-29

The 17th Annual Miami Salsa Congress is a Latin music and dance festival that will have you dancing even in your sleep! It features some of the world’s top Salsa talent including local and international touring artists, award-winning dancers, world-class dance instructors, top industry DJs, and award-winning Latin bands. Pool parties, dance parties, dance workshops, concerts, and shows will all be included in this salsa extravaganza! Cuban musical group Los Van Van is confirmed to perform on July 28th, making this their first Miami Salsa Congress performance!

Under the Moonlight
July 27 & 28

Paddle your way through the waters of Coastal Dune Lake for a magical night! At Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, monthly Full Moon Kayak tours are offered where you can follow a tour guide as you admire the moon. After roaming the waters, a toasty campfire is held with s’mores and refreshments! Whether you’re going with a partner for a romantic time, or with family for an exciting adventure, this is definitely something to add to your summer bucket list!
